Hosting and server log data

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. (88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you open a page, your browser necessarily transmits data to GitHub's servers — including your IP address, the requested file, browser type, and the time of the request — which may be stored in server log files. This is technically required to deliver the site and to keep it secure and stable. GitHub processes data in the USA; see GitHub's privacy statement at docs.github.com.

Contacting us by email

If you email the address above, we process the data you send (your email address and the contents of your message) solely to handle your enquiry. We keep such correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your request.

Interactive maps (Esri tiles)

The map pages load satellite and terrain imagery from Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc., 380 New York Street, Redlands, CA 92373, USA) and its data partners. When a map loads, your browser requests map tiles from Esri's servers, which necessarily transmits your IP address so the tiles can be delivered. No cookies are set for this.

International data transfers

Two providers receive data when you use this site: GitHub (hosting) and Esri (map tiles), both in the USA. Beyond delivering the page and the map tiles, no data is transferred to them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data (Art. 15), to rectification (Art. 16), to erasure (Art. 17), to restriction of processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21).
