A vast wet grassland on the Brahmaputra's floodplain, and the great stronghold of the one-horned rhino.

Kaziranga spreads across the active floodplain of the Brahmaputra, a young landscape of shifting channels, sandbars and silt renewed by the river’s annual floods. Those floods scour and fertilise the tall wet grasslands that define the park.

The rich alluvium supports extraordinary densities of large mammals — above all the world’s largest population of the greater one-horned rhinoceros — in a UNESCO World Heritage site.
