The McGurk effect is about perception of our brain when it comes to hearing. Our brain combines visual and auditory signals to figure out what's being said. So if visual signal doesn't match the auditory signals brain can mishear.
What happens?
If you hear one speech sound but see a person articulating a different sound, your brain may combine the two and perceive a third sound.
