How to estimate a tree’s age without cutting it

The growth factor method estimates a tree's age without cutting it down. You calculate it by multiplying the tree's Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) by a species-specific growth factor (the number of years it takes the tree to grow one inch in diameter).
