The growth factor method estimates a tree's age without cutting it down. You calculate it by multiplying the tree's Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) by a species-specific growth factor (the number of years it takes the tree to grow one inch in diameter). While this gives a rough approximation it's also often influenced by local growing conditions of a specific tree. #science #funfact #tree #treeage #didyouknow
